J&K records slight rise in day temp, Sgr simmers at 34.2 degree Celsius | KNO

Srinagar, Jul 09 (KNO): While there was a slight respite from the heat wave in Jammu and Kashmir, the parts of the Valley recorded a bit rise in the mercury on Tuesday with Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory recording a maximum temperature of 34.2 degree Celsius. As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), besides Srinagar, all the other stations too have recorded a slight rise in the maximum temperature today. Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, has recorded a maximum temperature of 32.0 degree Celsius while Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination has recorded a maximum temperature of 28.1 degree Celsius. In Kupwara, the mercury settled at 34.2 degree Celsius while Kokernag recorded 31.0 degree Celsius. Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded a maximum temperature of 24.0 degree Celsius. In the Jammu division, the mercury continued to settle around the normal temperatures with Jammu, the winter capital of the Union Territory, recording a maximum temperature of 35.5 degree Celsius. Banihal recorded 33.0 degree Celsius while Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 28.3 degree Celsius, 32.2 degree Celsius and 35.2 degree Celsius respectively. Moreover, Director Meteorological department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said, there is a possibility of brief spell of rain and thundershower at scattered places of Jammu division and isolated places of Kashmir division till tomorrow. He added that from July 11 to July 12, a spell of light to moderate rain and thundershower is expected at scattered to fairly widespread places while a brief spell of rain and thundershower is expected at isolated to scattered places on July 13 and July 14—(KNO)
